Twelve projects across 9 government agencies have been awarded grants from the Digital Government Partnership Innovation Fund 2021/22 funding round.
The Innovation Fund grants are to help progress digital and data innovation in the public sector.
Funding recipients include:
- Archives New Zealand
- Callaghan Innovation
- Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand
- Ministry for the Environment
- Ministry of Social Development
- Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment.
Each project was chosen for its unique opportunity to progress cross-agency pilots and prototypes within the public sector. The projects focus on driving digital and data innovation to create better outcomes for all New Zealanders.
A cross-agency panel selected the projects based on their innovative vision, potential to produce positive system outcomes, and their alignment with the Strategy for a Digital Public Service and the Government Data Strategy and Road Map.

About the Innovation Fund
The Digital Government Partnership Innovation Fund champions collaboration as part of a unified public service and supports projects that promote system benefits, in support of digital government.
Funding is allocated to government agencies wanting to invest in and lead early stage cross-agency pilots and prototypes that leverage data and digital channels to create better services for New Zealanders.
The Digital Government Partnership Innovation Fund is overseen by Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs — and initiated by the Digital Government Leadership Group.
