Shane is a Service Designer in the Te Pou Manawa (Partners and Products) team at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). His work for the last few years has been to develop new products for DIA by taking a people-centred approach. His day is usually spent talking about research, writing on post-its and trying to decipher what people really need, compared to what they say they need. The rest of the time he’s a typical pie-eating, rugby-watching, tramping kind of dad. His studies in Economics and Strategic Human Resource Management aren’t much help to his current job. But, luckily, a background in solving problems for customers is of great help to being a service designer.
