The draft ‘Standard for providing third parties with access to government-held personal information’ is out for consultation with government agencies and select non-government organisations.
It is issued by the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) with the Public Service Commissioner’s support.
This Standard is part of the Public Service Commission’s response to its inquiry into how government agencies protected personal information provided for Census 2023 and Covid-19 vaccination purposes.
The inquiry’s key findings, terms of reference, letters to government agencies and the final report are available on the Public Service Commission’s website.

The final Standard will be published in April and come into force on . Compliance is mandatory for core Public Service agencies. The Standard is issued as guidance to other State services under section 57 of the Public Service Act.
Information sharing agreements with non-government third parties which are entered into after , must meet this Standard.
Agencies will be required to report on their implementation against the Standard in .
